Find a teacher that constantly challenges your abilities, and that can clearly demonstrate how they’re going to take you from point A – B.

Are you truly receiving customized music lessons, or is it actually, a one book/program fits all?

Are the music programs designed to adapt to each student’s needs and how they learn best….by means of audio, visual, and kinesthetic aids?

Discuss goals and direction before lessons begin. Make sure you’re on the same page before

lessons begin.

How qualified is the music instructor? University/college degree? Stage/road experience?

6, Will you be provided with performance opportunities? And if so, how many throughout the year?

Are there any music scholarship opportunities that students can take advantage of?

Take a look at their course outline.

So….How important is finding a great music teacher?…. On average, students will stay with their instructor for 5 years or more. This is a long time….so you want to choose carefully and make sure you are receiving proper music instruction. Always go with your gut instincts, and chances are, you will feel….if the place is right for you as soon as you walk into the school or home.

If these music lessons are for a younger child, sit in on the lessons, take notes, observe and ask questions.
